A number of members have expressed concern for our music tutors who
are mostly self-employed. You have asked if there is anything we can
do to support them at this very challenging time.
Well yes there is! Our tutors continue to work from their own homes
delivering music lessons online. We have asked them if they would be
interested in offering lessons to our wider membership and they have
responded positively expressing that expanding their teaching online
would really help them through this time; for many of our tutors
income from performing and directing large groups has been put on
hold until further notice.
If you are interested then please contact us and we can put you touch with the relevant tutor.
Response to the COVID-19 Situation
17th March 2020
Following government advice and in light of the developing situation with Covid-19 it has been decided that Macclesfield Music Centre will close all Saturday activities until September 2020. All events and collaborations will be postponed, with the hope that these can take place at some point in the future.
Macclesfield Music Centre will be honouring their financial commitment to tutors for the spring term and therefore would very much appreciate it if members could settle any outstanding fees for the spring term. The decision to close in the summer term, therefore halting any financial arrangements with tutors and members, has been made in order to financially secure the charity for the future.
We understand that the closure of the centre has implications on the availability of individual tuition. Please contact your tutor to discuss alternatives.
At the time of writing it is unclear whether the August Holiday Courses will be able to continue, therefore we have decided to keep registrations open, committing to full refunds in the event of cancellation.
We wish everyone good health and very much welcome communications from members and tutors during this time.
MMC Saturday morning cancelled tomorrow 14th March.
We have been informed by Kings school that with great regret we will need to close MMC this week. The School is currently restricting events involving large gatherings of people, so parents' evenings, large-scale performances and divisional assemblies have been suspended, postponed or cancelled. In line with this policy and with great regret, we need to close the Centre this week. We will then be able to review the situation going forward.
Apologies that this notice has come so late, but we are responding to the situation as it develops. Please watch out on our website www.maccmusiccentre.org.uk for further news.

Our Cello player trio (Bethan Jordan, Beatrix Haigh and Angie Aiken) flew the flag for MMC by entertaining Macclesfield's Mayor and her guests recently. A great recital and good to see MMC's musicians getting the recognition they deserve.
