Summer holidays are behind us and we are looking forward to seeing you at the start of our new term on Saturday 7th September. For new. old and prospective members please check the group schedule information on our Groups and Tuition area - there are a few changes to timing and we are delighted to have some new groups that you may be interested in.
Also this term we need to refresh our membership lists. GDPR consents and gift aid declarations - will you please fill-in a new enrollment form and return it to the front desk when you arrive. This applies to all members, even those who have been supporting us for some years. Apologies for the inconvenience of doing this but it is essential we have a clean list of members and gift aid declarations.

We’re trying a new offering for string players grade 4+ in the summer: the chance to play in an augmented big band / session orchestra.
The idea is to have a taste of trying another genre of music, and of course, have some fun doing it. We will likely be playing 2-3 numbers such as Cry Me a River as delivered by Michael Buble (https://youtu.be/aZJo-rBJiNc) and Beyond the Sea a la Robbie Williams (https://youtu.be/87BBjLk3hno).
As we will be playing as part of a big band, which involves lots of loud instruments we need at least 20 stringers to sign up. If we can get this number then the day can go ahead. So please share this with anyone else you think might be interested (KEMS/Macclesfield Light Orchestra members?) and ask them to get in touch directly or via the MMC 'info' email.
The date concerned will be Friday 2 August, 10am-4pm at Parkroyal School plus concert 6-7pm in the United Reform Church on Park Green. During the day we will have some strings only sessions to get our fingers around the notes followed by rehearsal time with the big band. The cost will be £30 per adult or £20 per under 18.

We are organising (in partnership with Macclesfield Community Artspace), an event in Macclesfield for Chinese New Year. It will take place on Saturday 2nd February.
There will be a parade from Market Place at 11:45am to the United Reformed
Church at Park Green. Info on Artspace FaceBook page here
In the United Reformed Church, there will be music, food, art and crafts from midday until 2:30pm. Chinese food tasters will be served, there will be a chance to join in with a Chinese music workshop, arts and crafts as well as being able to view art installations created by local school children including 'Whisper of Moths and 'Great Wall of Friendship'
MMC are looking to provide some percussion instruments for the Parade, for children to play as they walk.
We have a number of opportunities to join MMC's Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees provide the direction and oversight of MMC’s operations and is an important governance mechanism for our status as a charity.
Becoming a Trustee doesn’t require any particular qualifications and needn’t be too onerous; as a Trustee you will be doing a good thing in helping MMC provide learning, playing and performance opportunities for all of our members.
If you would like to find out more (or know somebody else who might be interested) please contact Angie Aiken for more details. You can either speak to her on any Saturday morning or contact her at
